Corporate Tax Deregistration

Closing or restructuring a business doesn’t end its tax obligations automatically. We manage corporate tax deregistration so nothing follows you after the entity is gone.

When a company ceases business, liquidates, or ceases to be a taxable person, it must apply to deregister from corporate tax within the timeframe the FTA prescribes — and deregistration is only approved once all returns are filed and liabilities settled, including a final return for the closing period.

Taxspire manages the sequence end to end: final-period accounts, the closing tax computation and return, settlement of any balance, and the deregistration application itself. Done in the wrong order, this process stalls for months; done correctly, it closes the file cleanly.

The process

How it works

Step 01

Position review

We establish the cessation date, outstanding filings and any unpaid amounts.

Step 02

Final return

We prepare and file the return for the last tax period.

Step 03

Application

We submit the deregistration request with supporting evidence of cessation.

Step 04

Confirmation

We track the application and provide you the FTA’s deregistration confirmation for your records.

What we’ll need from you

Licence cancellation or liquidation documents
Board or shareholder resolution on cessation
Final financial statements to the cessation date
EmaraTax access and prior filings
Liquidator’s appointment letter, where applicable

Expected timeline

The application must generally be made within three months of cessation. End-to-end completion depends on FTA processing and whether prior filings are current — we give you a realistic schedule after the position review.

Timelines depend on document readiness and authority processing; we confirm a schedule before work begins.
